About Me

I buy handmade crafts in India and sell them to benefit animal welfare organizations in India and elsewhere. Former art historian. Current packrat. Avid thrifter and vintage clothes wearer. Love 1960s and early 1970s styles. Partial to Art Nouveau, Pre-Raphaelite, Victorian, Renaissance and Medieval art. On a continual quest for good-looking, comfortable vegan shoes. Bhangra dancer since 2002. Fascinated by all things Indian. Vegan and animal advocate.

Check out Joyatri on Etsy for vintage clothing and other items.

Best Friends volunteering and new page on site

bf_logo.gifI am officially a volunteer for the Best Friends Network's International Friends community, for which I'll be helping Indian animal welfare organizations promote themselves. And I've started a blog on the International Friends website (click on Joyatri's Blog). So far, I've been reporting on my visit last year with Compassionate Crusaders Trust in Calcutta, India, but I will be posting more current news items soon.

Also, new on this site--I've added a page "Where to Buy" which has a schedule of events where you can buy my textiles, jewelry, and paintings in person. I've got tons more textiles than what is posted on this site, so do plan to attend one of my upcoming selling events.
